I figured I'd share a how to!
Pick out up to three string colors and three medium-large beads. These are the same strings you would use to make friendship bracelets and are fairly cheap. You can pick them up at a craft store for around 50 cents. Make sure each string is 3 times the length of the hair you'll be wrapping. Once their all cut make a small knot at the end of the strings.
Part her hair like you would normally and clip back a fairly thick section of hair (so that it will cover the top knot)
Use a tiny plastic rubber band to determine where you want the braid. You want to place the braid back far enough that it won't be in their face.
Tie the strings around the rubber band with a tight knot. Decide which color you'd like to have first, in our case we used blue. Hold the other strings with her hair and wrap the "blue" string around the hair and other string going clockwise. Repeatedly wrap the string around. Make sure it's right or it will unravel.
Continue the first color all the way down until you'd like to switch and add the rest of the "blue" string in with the hair and the rest of the strings. Then take out the next color string and start again, wrapping clockwise around the hair and other two color strings. Repeat in whatever pattern of thicknesses you'd like.
When you get to the point where you'd like to add beads (in this case we put them at the end) twist the remaining hair and all three strings clockwise tightly and bend it. This way you will easily be able to slip it through the holes of the beads.
Knot the strings under the beads several times until the bead is no longer able to slide over it. An this point you can continue clockwise with the strings or end the braid. (We chose to end the braid).
Cut off any fly away strings and you're done! Remember, the tighter you wrap the strings, the longer it will last.
To remove braid, carefully cut either the bottom or top knots and unravel.
Have you tried this? How did yours turn out? Share and let us know!
