I, for one, love a good book where it's easy to imagine the characters and how you feel they would be. Some movies have made me disappointed in how the characters turned out, such as in Twilight, and others have been pleasantly surprising, as in Hunger Games.
Here are my favorite books that will be heading to theaters.
1. Divergent by Veronica Roth
This trilogy is as addicting as it gets. I wouldn't be surprised if these films get almost as big as The Hunger Games. The book is about a dystopian society made up of 5 factions and the main character, Tris. Tris is set with a choice whether she should stay with her family, or leave to be apart of a new faction. When she takes a test to determine where she belongs, she finds out that she doesn't belong in any one place. The entire book is high energy and makes you flip through pages incredibly fast in the need to know what comes next. Personally, I am bouncing on my toes in excitement waiting for the movie to come out.
Starring Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet and Theo James.
Coming to theaters March 21st, 2014.
2. Matched by Ally Condie
Another amazing trilogy! These books are centered around Cassia, whose entire life is decided by officials who use statistics to determine everything. They even determine who her perfect match is. When they determine that her best friend Xander is her perfect match, she couldn't be happier. That is until she finds out that she might have another match, Ky, who she is not allowed to love. The entire book is running with Cassia and her up and down emotions on whether she should trust herself or the safe society she has grown up in. It's really fascinating and I soaked all of it up. It was hard to decide who I wanted to root for when it came to Xander and Ky and I finally made a decision, but I'll let you decide for yourselves.
The cast has yet to be determined, but author Ally Condie has made a statement that her dream cast would be Nina Dobrev, Logan Lerman and Nathan Fillion. I have to say as far as Nina and Logan go, I agree whole heartedly!
The release date is also not available yet, but Disney has everything in the works!
3. A Great and Terrible Beauty - Libba Bray
This is another book series (of which I've only been able to read this, the first, book) about Gemma Doyle who is a 16 year old girl. Her mother dies and is sent to a girls academy in Victorian England. She ends up finding out that she has a connection to a mystical Order and is able to enter realms filled with magical powers. The entire time I was reading this, I was pretty jumpy. Bray's enticing way of writing makes you want to read more, but hesitantly. I say this only because you never know what kind of turn the book can make. It's as if your watching a scary movie and waiting for something scary to pop out. It is definitely a must read!
Again, the cast hasn't been announced but the planning is supposedly about finished.
The release date is set for 2015, but with filming not being started yet, it is likely to be later.
Are there any books that you can't wait to watch? Do you agree or disagree with one of my choices? Let us know!
